Newborn

The first weeks,
at home

Lifestyle newborn photos in the home you made for them: snuggles on your bed, the nursery, big siblings meeting the baby. No props marathon and no rushing. We go at baby’s pace and take breaks for feeds and cuddles.

  • Ideal in the first 2–3 weeks
  • At home, on baby’s schedule
  • Siblings and grandparents welcome

First birthday & cake smash

One year old,
and a little messy

A few sweet portraits, then the fun part: a cake smash (or a watermelon smash, like this little one). We plan the colors, setup and treat together, and I keep shooting while they figure out what frosting is.

  • Clean portraits first, then the smash
  • Cake, watermelon, donuts: your call
  • Great for invitations and thank-you cards

Sessions start at $350. Book maternity and newborn together and I'll plan both around your due date, then we can pick a day for the first birthday when it gets closer. Every session includes hand-edited photos, a private online gallery with a print store, and a sneak peek within 24 hours.

Good to know: Prices are for the session itself. Prefer the studio? In-studio sessions are +$150 for any session. Some parks and venues charge a permit fee; I handle the permit, and any fee is added to your invoice.

Questions

Maternity, newborn &
cake smash FAQ

When should I book maternity photos?

Most people take maternity photos between about 28 and 34 weeks, when the bump is clearly showing and you’re still comfortable moving around. Reach out once you know your due date, especially for winter and spring, which fill up first.

When is the best time for newborn photos?

The first two or three weeks are ideal for sleepy, curled-up photos. Lifestyle newborn sessions at home work well any time in the first couple of months, so don’t worry if the timing slips. Let me know your due date and we’ll pencil in a window, then pick the exact day once baby arrives.

Do newborn sessions happen at home?

They can, and many parents prefer it: no packing up a newborn, and the photos show the home and nursery you made for them. We work around feeds, naps and diaper changes, and baby’s comfort always comes first.

Can siblings and partners be in the photos?

Yes, please. Big brothers and sisters, partners, grandparents and the family dog are all welcome. Some of my favorite photos are a big sister meeting the bump or the new baby.

What is a cake smash session?

A first birthday session where your little one gets their own small cake (or watermelon, or donuts) to dig into. We usually start with a few clean portraits, then let them go for it. We’ll plan the colors, setup and treat together before the session.

Where do maternity sessions take place?

Anywhere that fits the look you want: the foothills, a garden, a beach, or at home. I know the spots around Rancho Cucamonga and the Inland Empire, and many parks require a permit for professional photos, so I handle that ahead of time. If a location charges a fee, it’s added to your invoice.

How much do these sessions cost?

Maternity, newborn and first birthday sessions start at $350. That includes a relaxed, unhurried session, hand-edited photos, a private online gallery with a print store, and a sneak peek within 24 hours.
